Berthold Hackl is a Managing Director of Heidelberg Innovation
GmbH, the Corporate Advisory arm of the HI Group. He joined
HI in the year 2000 as Managing Partner of the funds BSV I and
BSV II. He has an excellent reputation as a practical "hands-on"
venture capital manager and established the medical technology
expertise at HI. Since August 2007 Berthold Hackl has been CEO of
invendo medical GmbH, an innovative medical device company in
the field if gastrointestinal endoscopy. Shortly before he resigned
from the management of our fund BSV II.
Berthold Hackl is a molecular biologist and MBA from INSEAD. He was
twice the founding member for new German and European businesses
of Pharmacia (now Biacore and GE Healthcare) and grew both
into multi-million $ units. Later he became member of the core
management team that repositioned Stratec Medical (Synthes;
the world's largest trauma implant company) for its IPO in
1996 (SWX, today € 10bn market cap). He founded one of the
first European eHealth ventures (Medical Monitor), gained turnaround
(as a CEO, Vitalus) and public offering experience (Chief Advisor,
Eurofins, FSE).
Berthold Hackl currently holds supervisory board seats in Arthro
Kinetics and mtm laboratories.
