Dr. Thorlef Spickschen (Chairman)
From 1976, Dr. Spickschen was the general manager of the company
Eli Lilly GmbH before becoming a member of the executive management
of Boehringer Mannheim GmbH in 1985, assuming responsibility
for sales. Between 1990 and 1993, Dr. Spickschen was the chairman
of the executive management of Boehringer Mannheim and between
1992 and 1993 a member of the executive board of the parent
company Corange Ltd. In 1994 he joined BASF and became CEO of
the pharmaceutical division, until the takeover by Abbott in
2001. Among other things, Dr. Spickschen was active for many
years on the executive board of the Verband Forschender Arzneimittelhersteller
and on the EFPIA board (European Federation of Pharmaceutical
Industries and Associations).

Heinrich Hornef (Vice-Chairman)
Dr. Hornef served as CFO in the executive management of Boehringer
Mannheim GmbH between 1972 and 1992. In 1992, Dr. Hornef became
CFO of the Treuhandanstalt in Berlin, which privatized the entire
East-German economy. From the beginning of 1995 until the end
of 1996 he was president of the successor company of Treuhandanstalt.
Dr. Hornef was Chairman of supervisory board of Merck KGaA since
1995. Furthermore, he was a member of the supervisory board
of Qiagen NV and Kali & Salz AG, and for many years had
been a member of the supervisory board of SAP AG.
